Summer League 2003...
I decided to take Daniel and Stephanie, who I lived with at the time, to their first ever baseball game. I figured, if i was going to see this dream come true, let's start with two kids I could take and birth the excitement of watching a game together in them.
With no expectations, we headed out to Melbourne Ballpark and watched a local league game. It was my first time travelling Citylink and wondered, "if I am travelling at night, do I need a 'Day Pass'?" ( sad, but true!) $40 fine later, we enjoyed a great night of baseball, but with shock and amazement we were the only fans in the stands, unless you count the lady knitting behind home plate!
We got there early because you can't have a true baseball experience without watching the pre-game warmups! We were noisy, maybe too loud, but the three of us cheered the local Melbourne home team to victory!
To this day, the only memory Daniel and Steph have is that it was a great night but every time they caught a foul ball and retrieved it, some guy made them give it back! Haha! Good ol' local games!
The realisation I had sitting there along 1st base was that this dream of getting 100 people to a game was going to be one of the oddest things I will ever do!
The thought of not even knowing how to make this become a reality is what so many people must go through when trying to achieve their dreams! It was going to take more than a Citylink fine to stop me though!
